Blazers Alums Hajda and Bondarenko Sign FPHL Deals
The Oklahoma City Blazers are thrilled to announce that Blazers alumni Jiri Hajda and Ivan Bondarenko have signed deals with the FPHL's Columbus River Dragons. Hajda and Bondarenko become the first Blazers alumni to sign with the River Dragons, after it was announced earlier this month that Blazers owner and GM, Gary Gill, was named an Associate Head Coach for Columbus.
"Jiri and Ivan become the first players to follow the path that I have envisioned for the Blazers after taking this position with Columbus," said Gill. "We've been able to establish the road to the college ranks over the past two seasons, and now, we have the path to the professional ranks as well."
Hajda spent last season in Slovakia, playing in the Slovakian 2nd division with HC Presov. In 38 games last season, Hajda scored four goals and 16 assists. Hajda was a part of the Blazers during the 2015-16 season, skating in 50 games and scoring 21 points.
Bondarenko played last season as an overage player in the GMHL with the Tilsonburg Hurricanes, lighting up the league. In just 19 games, Bondarenko picked up 86 points, which was good for 10th in the league by season's end. Bondarenko joined the Blazers in the 2015-16 season, playing in OKC until aging out of the WSHL following the 2017-18 season. Bondarenko currently holds the Blazers WSHL franchise records in most career assists (126), and total points (235).
