Blazers Bounce Back To Take Series Advantage, 6-1
Sunday afternoon, the Oklahoma City Blazers and Northern Colorado Eagles closed out their weekend series, with both teams having won a game so far this weekend. Both teams remained with their goaltenders in net as Bobby Cloutier and Marshall Murphy started their third games of the weekend.
The 1st period mimicked Saturday's game as neither team was able to hit the back of the net. Period number two of the game saw the floodgates open for OKC, as they picked up five goals in the period. OKC picked up four straight, as Henrik Overvall added a pair, with additional goals from Stephane Doering and Nathan Inniss. Nikita Sheberov picked up the lone Eagles goal to break up the Blazers streak, but Harri Koll put the Blazers back out to a 5-1 lead, closing out the 2nd period.
Northern Colorado tried to battle back, but was unable to get past Cloutier to get back into the game. With four minutes remaining, Tobias Thorner put the final nail in the game, giving Oklahoma City the 6-1 lead and win.
Bobby Cloutier improved his record to 9-3-0, as he allowed only one goal for the 6th time this season.
The Blazers now look ahead to the WSHL's annual showcase, the Western States Shootout in Las Vegas. OKC will be off until Wednesday when they take on the league's other Blazers team, the Bellingham Blazers, at 2pm Central.
