Blazers Pick Up 9-3 Win Over Wichita

by Eric Rodgers

Saturday afternoon, the Oklahoma City Blazers and Wichita Jr. Thunder continued their weekend series as they kicked off their second game of three. Danick Francoeur started in net for OKC, against Jeremy Haffner for the Thunder.

OKC kicked off the game much like they did on Friday, jumping out to an early lead with the first four goals of the contest, scored by Dylan Koch, Lukas Narovec, Trent Sheldon, and Dominic Loubert. The Thunder scored first in the 2nd period to cut the lead to 4-1, but a pair of goals from Benjamin St. Onge and Sheldon's second goal made it 7-1 as the third period kicked off.

Wichita picked up a pair of goals to make it 7-3, but the goals from Tadeas Aulehla and Petr Pokorny closed out the game with the Blazers winning 9-3, and improving to 2-0-0-0 on the season.

Francoeur picked up the win in net, turning aside 30 shots, while Hafner turned aside 45 of OKC's 54 shots.

The weekend series concludes Sunday at 11:00a at the Wichita Ice Center.
