Blazers Pick Up Win Over Eagles, 5-1
Friday night, the Oklahoma City Blazers traveled to Greeley, Colorado to take on the Northern Colorado Eagles in the first of their three-game set. With Bobby Cloutier in net for OKC against Marshall Murphy for the Eagles, the teams faced off in their divisional matchup.
OKC picked up the first goal of the game on the power play, as Tobias Thorner picked up a rebound in front and putting it past Murphy for the goal. A few minutes later, Daniel Baranek picked up a cross-slot pass from newcomer Jiri Egert to put OKC up by a 2-0 score, which held to the 1st intermission.
The Blazers earned another goal in the 2nd period, as Jiri Egert and Daniel Baranek combined once again to make it 3-0 OKC. Northern Colorado broke up the shutout bid just before the 2nd intermission, sending the teams to the locker rooms at a 3-1 OKC lead.
Holding off the Eagles for the remaining 20 minutes, the Blazers added two more goals, both from Vitali Mikhailov, as they picked up the 5-1 win.
Cloutier picked up 39 saves in the win as he improved to 8-2-0 on the season. Murphy made 39 saves in the loss for Colorado.
Both teams return to the ice on Saturday, as the puck drops at 4:45 CST in Colorado.
