Blazers Release Armstrong, Magers From Coaching Staff

by Eric Rodgers

The Oklahoma City Blazers and owner Jake Runey have announced that they have released head coach Danny Armstrong and assistant coach Marty Magers from the Blazers coaching staff. Armstrong had stepped into the head coaching role at the start of 2020, taking over for Ty Smith, while Magers was in the assistant role through the 2019-20 season.

"It goes without saying that this season was a disappointment," stated Runey. "Danny came into a very difficult situation and did a great job. I know in the right circumstances, he will be a great coach in this league or any other league."

"As we head into the 2020-21 season, this is a great opportunity with the right timing to clean the slate and start fresh," continued Runey. We're excited to continue working towards next season, and will be conducting interviews for our next coach in the coming weeks."

The Blazers Tryout Camp takes place June 12th and 13th at Arctic Edge. Players interested will have the opportunity to show their skills in front of Blazers staff and other scouts ahead of the 2020-21 season! For more information, visit 2020 OKC Blazers Camps.
