Long Beach Comes Out On Top, Blazers Fall 2-1

by Eric Rodgers

Friday afternoon, the Oklahoma City Blazers closed out their Western States Shootout slate with a contest against the Long Beach Bombers. With Bobby Cloutier in net, the Blazers faced off against Domenic Bosetti in goal for Long Beach.

Oklahoma City jumped out to the lead with the opening goal 5:28 into the game as Henrik Overvall picked up the goal and put OKC up by the 1-0 score. Long Beach answered back twice in the half, and sent the game to halftime with the 2-1 lead over the Blazers.

Neither team found the back of the net in the 2nd half, as both Cloutier and Bosetti stood tall. OKC pulled Cloutier for the extra attacker with 55 seconds remaining, but it wasn't enough to get past Bosetti for the tie.

The Blazers close out their showcase with a record of 2-1, defeating both the Bellingham Blazers and Fresno Monsters earlier in the week.

The league's Holiday Break begins as all teams will be idle until 2019. The Blazers now look ahead to November 11th as the El Paso Rhinos return to town for another three-game weekend.
